SPORE: The most pirated game of the year. (link)
And we all know why; DRM. The dreaded ball and chain that companies believe prevents such pirates from distributing their copyrighted material anywhere they please. In my personal experience it is the end user that always suffers when companies think they need more safeguards on their software. Just look at the Bioshock fiasco as proof!

solar wifi
The Meraki company has debuted as solar powered Wi-Fi kit that I see as a step in the right direction. Here's hoping that they are able to increase the panels output for low light areas.

My Universe
Just a quick note about my transposition of my series of novels (still in the preliminary stages) set in a Sci-fi setting thousands of years into the future. Think Cowboy Bebop meets Starwars with some Asimov and Heinlein influences here and there.
For those concerned about the Starwars bit I only include that because some of the technologies are "based" on science but several use the "magic tech" that Starwars is famous for. Basically if it is needed for the story and doesn't have sound science behind it the reasoning would be that our current science cannot comprehend the tech required as it is set so far in the future...
Also, for those who would know this is loosely based on an RPG I once GM'ed and you can expect certain characters and races to appear...except that one which we will not speak of...

Old and busted...New Hotness....
Just wanted to show some 'could have beens' for Soundwave in the IDW comic series. I'm still hoping for the micro cassette recorder as you can still buy these. That and it would make a wonderful Classics Soundwave.
Though the car/s.u.v. would be an interesting figure as well but I believe this design was converted over to the Transformers: Animated for their Soundwave figure (link). I would have preferred this design over the Animated as the figure really does not do Soundwave the true justice he deserves.

UPDATE: A day that will live in infamy...
Last night at work the production supervisor along with some other managers came in to Hitachi and dismissed 8 production workers from shift 2. Following this they proceeded to call shift 1 workers to come in to be laid off. I go in to work tonight not knowing what to expect. I do believe that God will provide in these dark times...
Well, it's been several days now and I still have my job in shipping/receiving. In total we lost 21 workers; 20 from production and one maintainance worker. For the time being we will still be running 2 shifts and my hours remain 2:30-11:00pm but I may have to go back to the production floor because of the loss of one third of shift 2. I thank God that I still have a job and I send up a silent prayer for those who lost they're job during this holiday season.
On the lighter side, I found an extra deposit in my checking account from Hitachi that was DOUBLE the correct deposit. So this was a bright point of the week until they swiftly took it out of my account. Can't win them all I suppose...
